Vytautas Greičius


Vytautas Greičius was born on 9 May 1949 in the Tauragė region. In 1975, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. In 1975–1976, he was an intern at the Klaipėda City District Court. From 1976 to 1990, he worked as a judge at the District Court of Ukmergė. In 1990–2014, he was a judge at the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Lithuania. Between 1995 and 1998, he held the position of the Chairman of this division and, in 1998–2009, he held the office of the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania. In 2002–2006, Vytautas Greičius was the Chairman of the Judicial Council. He was a member of the working groups for the preparation of a draft Criminal Code, a draft Code of Criminal Procedure, a draft Law on Courts, and other draft laws.

He has taken part in a number of national and international scientific practical conferences, seminars and other events. He is the author of scientific articles on issues related to the application of law and the activity of courts, and has reviewed scientific works.

He was appointed a justice of the Constitutional Court in March 2014.
