Janina Stripeikienė


Janina Stripeikienė was born on 8 March 1955 in the Kelmė region. In 1978, she graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. In 1978–1980, she worked as a consultant and, in 1980–1990, as a judge at a district court. In 1990–1994 and 1999–2017, Janina Stripeikienė was a judge of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and, in 2007–2012, she held the position of the Chairperson of the Civil Division of this court. In 1995–1999, she was a judge of the Court of Appeal of Lithuania. During 2000–2009, she lectured at the Faculty of Law of Mykolas Romeris University.

Janina Stripeikienė did internships at the courts and universities of the USA, the United Kingdom, and Canada, as well as at the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. She has been a lecturer at various scientific events and qualification schemes organised by legal and state institutions; she has been a participant of international conferences, seminars, and discussions, as well as a member of expert groups. She is the author and co-author of textbooks and scientific articles on issues related to family, the organisation of courts, civil procedure, etc.

She was appointed a justice of the Constitutional Court in March 2017.
