Giedrė Lastauskienė

Justice

Giedrė Lastauskienė was born on 2 June 1967 in the Šilalė region. In 1992, she graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. In 2002, she defended her PhD thesis at the Lithuanian Academy of Law (at present Mykolas Romeris University). Giedrė Lastauskienė was a research fellow at the Law Institute under the Ministry of Justice. In 2003–2021, she was an advocate. Between 2012 and 2021, she was a member of the Council of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television. In 2016–2017, she was a member of the Commission for the Selection of Candidates for Judges. In 2018–2020, she was a member of the Commission for the Examination of Candidates for Judges. In 1998–2003, she lectured at the Lithuanian Academy of Law and, since 2003, she has been a lecturer and an associate professor at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. She is the author of scientific articles on the theory of law, legal argumentation, and the philosophy of law, as well as a co-author of several textbooks and educational books.

She was appointed a justice of the Constitutional Court in January 2021.
