Algis Norkūnas


Algis Norkūnas was born on 24 August 1962 in the Trakai region. In 1985, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. In 1985–1992, he worked in the prosecutor’s offices of the Ignalina and Švenčionys regions. Between 1992–1995, he worked as a judge in the District Court of Ignalina Region. In 1995–1999, he was a judge in the Vilnius Regional Court and, in 1999–2021, he was a judge of the Supreme Court of Lithuania. In 2006–2008, he held the position of the Deputy Chairman of the Judicial Council; from 2010 to 2016, he held the office of the Chairman of the Commission for Judicial Ethics and Discipline and, in 2016–2020, he was a member of the Judicial Council. Since 1999, Algis Norkūnas has lectured at Mykolas Romeris University and, since 2016, he is a partnership associate professor at Law School of this university.

He is the author of scientific articles on civil liability, civil procedure, consumer rights, and other issues, as well as the co-author of several monographs, legal textbooks, and other teaching aids.

He was appointed a justice of the Constitutional Court in January 2021.
